Samsung T9 2TB: preserve a write-speed discrepancy before comparing transfer claims

Samsung Portable SSD T9 2TB illustrates why a headline speed should be kept beside its exact source and version. Two manufacturer records read for this guide do not use the same write-speed number. A buyer should preserve that disagreement and seek a current model-specific answer, rather than presenting the more attractive figure as independently verified.

The two records and the unresolved difference

The Samsung US record for MU-PG2T0B/AM labels both read and write at 2,000MB/s. Samsung’s 2023 T9 data sheet, Revision 1.0, lists up to 1,950MB/s sequential write for the 2TB capacity and up to 2,000MB/s read. Both were read on 3 October 2026. We have not found a documented reconciliation in the material read. This article therefore does not select either write figure as the current definitive limit. The older sheet also identifies USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, 20Gbps, and qualifies performance by host, cable and system environment. A rated figure is not a measurement of your files.

Keep capacity and version in the comparison

Record the capacity and exact regional model code for every offer. When reading a table with several capacities, keep the column heading with the number copied into your comparison note. A result associated with another capacity should not silently migrate to the 2TB row.

Also distinguish source publication from the date you retrieved it. A page that opens today can still contain a historical document. Preserve a revision label where one exists, and request an explanation when another manufacturer record differs. Do not call the difference rounding, a hardware update or an error without evidence establishing that explanation.

Identify the actual transfer task

Describe whether the work involves a few large files or many smaller ones, and which device supplies and receives them. A sequential rating does not give the elapsed time for every collection. Keep your workload description separate from the advertised benchmark category.

Document the host connection and cable identity from the relevant sources. The appearance of a USB-C connector alone is not the complete performance record. This guide does not approve an unknown hub, provide disk-formatting instructions or direct readers to modify their system to chase a headline speed.

What should remain open before purchase

Ask Samsung for the current specification applicable to the exact regional 2TB model when write performance is decisive. Keep the answer with the conflicting records so a later comparison can be revised transparently. Until then, a shortlist should explicitly show the unresolved field instead of presenting a falsely precise winner.

Current reconciled write specification, exact offer identity and expected workload result: Not independently verified for this article. No drive was tested and no file-transfer outcome, reliability or protection guarantee is supplied. The write-speed difference remains unresolved.
